Hey all,

Just got back from the dealer. 3 week old truck, 1900 on the clock. Had the 70 MPH vibe. Not bad, just annoying. About a 4 on a 1-10 scale.

Took a ride with tech who agreed there was a vibration. Service manager did the same and came to same conclusion.

Removed front drive shaft and vibration down to a 1 on a 1-10 scale.

Dealer adjusted front differential angle (caster) and vibration is now gone.

Took it for a short ride at speed and all appears well. For now... .

I will see how the fix holds up over time and report as necessary. I do about 100 miles a day so I will know in short order if the fix works.

Best,

Steve

Glad to hear you found a dealer that wil actually fix it instead of calling startrek and then telling you there no problem. Keep us posted on your observations... ...

Took mine to local dealer for 2nd oil change and to have EGT/Boost gauges installed. Told him about 70mph vibes. He said there was a TSB. Has ordered "parts" and will call in about 2 weeks to install them. Also told him of the shuuder at launch and he thought the TSB might fix both problems.

We'll see.

This sure sounds like the double U joint assembly is having difficulty running at 70 mph with it's factory angle. Not many run their trucks in 4wd at 70+ and I bet if these trucks had locking hubs none of this would even be an issue.

Do you know what they changed the caster to? To decrease the joints angle they would have had to decrease caster, decrease it too far and the truck will not trac straight and want to wander making you feel as though you always have to "steer" it even on a straight road.

Matt, I don't know what they changed the angle to. I did a few highway miles today and it does drive nice and straight (so far). I haven't driven it too far but I will be back to work tomorrow and the miles will add up. That will be the acid test.

It seems that the vibration is pretty much gone but I will be keeping an eye out for the rumored TSB. If and when it appears, I will be there to have them take care of it.

Best

Steve
