Happy Birthday, Barry!

BOMBer's Prayer

Hello fellow TDR'ers,

I am having a problem with the 700R4 transmission in my 91' Chev Surburban that I was hoping someone could help me out with. When driving it shifts through the first three gears fine but it will not go into overdrive unless I am going over 65 mph, and when it is in overdrive it will shift back to third gear when giving it even the slightest bit more pedal. The transmission does not slip at all and the fluid looks clean, I have checked the kickdown cable and it is adjusted to spec (Chiltons Manual). If I adjust the cable either way it changes the shift points higher or lower but seems to have no effect on the function of the overdrive.

I am trying to get the truck ready for winter and this is the last thing I need to fix. I don't want to drive it this way if I can help it as I don't want to buy a transmission down the road if I can help it.

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

Kurt.

Hi Folks,

What's the matter? I can't believe that with all of the knoweldge that the people of the TDR have, that nobody has any ideas as to what the problem is with transmission in my GM. I have faith that someone will hear my cry for help and at least offer a idea as to what the probem is.

I need to get this truck going as soon as I can as my wife hit a deer last week and her car is out of commision for awhile and we now have to carpool and our jobs are 15 miles apart from each other and our schedules are not exactly the same.

Please someone throw me a bone.

Thanks,

Kurt.
