Hello fellow TDR'ers,
I am having a problem with the 700R4 transmission in my 91' Chev Surburban that I was hoping someone could help me out with. When driving it shifts through the first three gears fine but it will not go into overdrive unless I am going over 65 mph, and when it is in overdrive it will shift back to third gear when giving it even the slightest bit more pedal. The transmission does not slip at all and the fluid looks clean, I have checked the kickdown cable and it is adjusted to spec (Chiltons Manual). If I adjust the cable either way it changes the shift points higher or lower but seems to have no effect on the function of the overdrive.
I am trying to get the truck ready for winter and this is the last thing I need to fix. I don't want to drive it this way if I can help it as I don't want to buy a transmission down the road if I can help it.
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.
Kurt.
