Why? WHY WHY WHY!

2012 F550 Humor

I was recently doing some doodling and it came to me that my ’05 was now 8 ½ years old! I was really amazed when I realized that it still has the original Batteries in it! When they finally do go bad guess where I will go for new ones! My friendly D/C Ram dealer!

I replaced the batteries on my 02 here a year or two ago. (bought the truck in sept of 01). So, they were at least 10 years old. They were still in great condition. The only reason I replaced them was because of the age, I didnt want any surprises in the dead of winter. Had I not replaced them then, I have no doubt they would still be in the truck.

I replaced mine a few years ago, but they are still going strong in a friends F-250. The truck was originally put into service in Oct 2004.

I changed the factory batteries in my 04 last year, they were still working great I just thought I would be proactive.

I replaced the original batteries in my '03 this past spring. Like yours, they were still working satisfactorily, but I was being "proactive" also. 10 years was long enough to "gamble" on them doing the job.

I'm replacing the original batteries in my 04. 5 (with 200+K miles) this weekend. They are still working well, but I figured I'd change them before the cold winter weather sets in.

Add another one with original batteries in my 05. I too am considering replacing, to avoid any "sudden surprises". I said that last year and didn't change them, they keep chugging along.

Another 05 with original batteries & 120K miles. Might put the batteries in the plow truck and get new ones for the 05, but I was planning to do that last year too ... .

You may want to make sure the dealer batteries will be the same as the originals. Who knows, by now Chrysler may have a different battery supplier or the dealer may source the batteries locally, etc.

I've got the originals still in my '03. A year ago I bought new Die Hard Platinums to take advantage of a sale. I carry them in the truck, waiting for the factory originals to die.

'04. 5 still on the originals. 300+K of pushing a plow, spreading salt, and lots of trailer towing behind them. I wish every part on that truck was as good as the batteries.

I just replaced the originals in my 06 with a pair of Optimas. The OEM batteries seemed fine but it definitely turned over a little faster with the new batts. I've never had a set of batteries go 7+ years before and I felt like I was on borrowed time. Who knows, maybe I could've got another year or two... not worth getting stranded to find out.
