2014 Ram 3500 Larimie 8.4 AN Nav system clock locks up, Icon for vehicle in map screen strays off the road and moves erratic, map will not update as truck moves. Latest updates are completed. Anyone had this problem? Solutions?

Define latest update? There is a current OTA radio software update that is supposed to fix those specific problems. There is a bulletin out on it, I'll have to look up the number on it again.

That nav sucks big time. I have a 14 and I never use it . I pull a 5th wheel about 5 months out of the year. I test them by seeing what route the nav will send me in an area I am familiar with. That POS had me going down more Goat paths and stupid directions then I thought could be possible. Biggest waste of money was activating that thing. Get a Garmin or use your phone much better directions IMHO.

All O.T.A. updates and recalls have been completed. Software version 17.11.17 installed.I have always been skeptical about following navigation system directions, however my little portable Tom Tom never let me down. This uconnect nav system sucks.

Did the replacement take care of the problem? My bumper to bumper warranty is expired. I bet that would be a costly out of pocket expense. $$$$

Well that's discouraging. Mine has intermittent "vehicle phone failure, see dealer" messages, and some times the clock stops updating and stays on one time. Supposedly things this OTA update should fix. Have not received a letter about it yet much less the update. Fingers crossed I guess.

I have the same issues with the clock and vehicle phone failure warnings. My phone seems to interface with the system without any problems. I'm glad I'm not the only one having these problems. My original post was on the forum for over a week before anyone responded. Thanks for the feedback.

So ... update. I had my truck at the dealer back in October for a recall, and while there had them manually do the radio update per the service bulletin, since they said they could cover it even though my warranty is well gone. I should note, it was supposed to take maybe 2 hours per the bulletin, however it took forever to download to the thumb drive and even longer to upload to the truck. Ended up over 4 hours! Everything was good afterwards... for a bit. Then I started getting the "vehicle phone requires service, please contact dealer" pop up message almost every time I drive it. Shortly after that I found the NAV stopped working as well. Currently it seems the NAV works intermittently, and the phone thing is less every time I drive it but still quite frequent. Dealer was not inclined to check into it without standard hourly rate. Also indicated they suspect the whole unit needs replaced. I'm not convinced it isn't an antenna related issue, as everything else works fine, and the NAV and phone things both seem to rely on antenna. The NAV will show the truck icon just bouncing or driving or stuck off road somewhere. Sometimes not even close to where I am in actuality. Fairly frustrated.

I was over in the Chrysler forum and it seems this is a common problem with the 8.4 AN. Seems the only remedy is to replace the unit. This can be very expensive repair if you don't have warranty. My daughter had a Durango with these issues, It was replaced under warranty and has worked fine since. My Ram has the very same issues. I had my update over the airwave didn't seem like it took over 20 minutes. Now sometimes when I start truck it will take one to two minutes for the system to boot up and run. I agree it is a very frustrating issue.

The Navigation puts you on Parkway that will get you a fine. Here in NY any vehicle over #6000 needs to Registered commercial.

I have been having issues with the 8.4an system in my 2013 1500. Out of warranty and dealer says they "have issues" and the fix is to replace it, at a cost of around $1,500. Spent hours of reading, talking to Uconnect, Ram Care, and even Sirius since that won't connect up. Have read on other forums of the issues with the 8.4an, and apparently there is some small print that indicates some of the extended warranties won't cover this either. I've been walked through by Uconnect, Ram Care, and Sirius of every type of re-boot's, settings, and updates and nothing works. Bottom line, they all say I should go to a dealer for repairs. In my search I have located a company in FL that sells the refurbished units, which is what you will get from the dealer, not a "new" one. Still pricey, but cheaper then the dealer. Also located a company which I believe is part of the refurbish co., that will repair your unit and includes a warranty. This is about 1/3 the cost of a total replacement. I went this route and just recently sent my radio to them, so I'm hoping for the best. I feel better taking the dash apart myself then having someone else do it. In the future I would never order a radio like this, and have no issues with my Infinity system in my 95 2500. Petty much the "kiss" principle. It is extremely frustrating, so I wish you luck.

Thank you for all the info... mine is also a 2013, only 2500 series. Would be interested in some more detailed info on the company you sent to for repairs, as well as the results

I am having a few glitches with the 17.11.01 update. Phone sync sounds well but when I use the button on wheel to change songs it takes a few seconds or more before switching songs. Also the wrong title will be on the screen as well. If I reset it will it help or not?

Update, radio was returned after repairs. Was told it was an "aircard" issue that was repaired, not sure what an "aircard" is, or what it does. They also uploaded new maps. I could not be happier with these folks, for answering many questions that I had, and at fraction of the cost of what a dealer would have charged to replace the radio. If your having major issues, with you Uconnect system, and not afraid to remove it from you dash by yourself, I would highly recommend "navrepair" I learned that anything to do with the nav system or the Sirius radio is NOT a Uconnect problem.. Good luck with all who have issues with their radio systems.

Having the same problem with my Nav system..taking me off the main road down thru neighbor hoods then back to interstate while traveling the lower 48 last winter...next truck will be a Tradesman..no more fancy-dancy crap for me.
