In my ongoing saga with the piece of crap 8.4 radio which lost the compass/nav feature 10 days ago, I have another question. Truck is scheduled to go to dealer this Friday. When I went out to try and start it now, everything is completely dead. I put the battery charger on and the 8.4 screen is flickering. Anyway, this is the idiotic 8.4 radio which has no on/off button. So, I searched for previous threads and found none. Looked in the owners manual for a fuse for the radio and it doesn't list one. My question, is there a fuse or way to disconnect the radio so I can avoid this problem between now and Friday when I take it to the dealer. Or will I have to keep the charger on or jump it to get it to go? Thanks for any help

Thanks I’ll look there. Got it pulled out of the garage and have jumper on it. Learned one thing. Even with 2 battery packs it won’t start if completely dead.

On some trucks it is over near the driver side battery below the master cylinder. Still very strange that it is in the harness and not in the PDC.

Wow, thanks for digging up that old thread. Very helpful. I found the fuse where you guys pointed it out. Got truck running late yesterday and will see if it starts this morning or if the batteries are drained again. Found out that when the radio doesn't work, neither does the air cond. or other controls!

Well, the verdict is in--need a new radio. On order through the dealer so we'll see how long it takes. Thanks for all the assistance and suggestions.

Sometimes the refurb units will be better than the new! this time, someone has to take the time to look for issues and correct them instead of just throwing the parts together as they come down the line. Hopefully you'll get much better service from the replacement unit! MaxCare rules! I got use of it when I was able to transfer it when bought truck!

The 8.4 unit that was replaced in my 2018 Challenger T/A started acting goofy, but also had delamination issues, too. The delamination issue was an instant replacement criteria. The replacement unit is blazingly faster than the original 8.4 unit.

Figured I'd update this saga--what a cluster! So had appointment this a.m. to get new radio installed. Tech did it in about an hour--EXCEPT--it's not the right radio!! Has no Sirius XM icon so no Sirius radio. Has no cargo camera indicator to turn on cargo camera. Also, no air cond. despite the fact that the lights on the 'auto' and 'air' buttons illuminate. So-another radio on order. In the meantime, with the old radio, it was draining the batteries completely overnight. We'll see what this incorrect, temporary radio does. Grrr!!
