I have a new 2014 2500 Laramie Crew Cab 4X4 Cummins. Got it in June 2014, 2010 miles. The 8.4AN will jump from radio to media and then back numerous times while driving. Seems not to have a pattern just random. Anyone else have this problem? Just wanted to check here before I take it in for service.

Get the update but most likely the Media Hub in the center console. Many have had to be replaced for a poor connection.

Sag, Hoping I can explain what I keep seeing on my truck and you could point me in the correct direction.
Initially,my Laramie with 8.4AN had provisions for presetting the cooled seats for startup. During all the trips to the dealership for the vibration issues, the techs pulled the VIN and did two pages of software updates...
Since then, the screen for setting the cooled seats has disappeared. The presets for heat are still there, but the cooling is gone.
When I start the truck, sometimes they startup on HI cooling, but most of the time they start up on LOW.
In your opinion, could this have to do with the above mentioned update? Or does this have more to do with the Media Hub? I also have a RECALL for the RF hub needing to be flashed, AND the drivers door keyless entry button is having issues... are they all related or is it more likely that its 3 seperate issues?

I had the identical issue with my truck, it was driving me nuts. Dealer looked at it, found nothing. I noticed when it would do this that it always switched back and forth between Aux and whatever other source I was using. Up to this point I hadn't ever plugged anything in to the Aux input. One day I was curious if it would still do this if I had something connected to the Aux input, so I plugged in my earbuds, just as dead input obviously. The problem went away. After about a week of not having the issue occur ( it used to happen every time I drove the truck) I unplugged the earbuds. It's been a couple of weeks now without the issue occurring. I believe there was an issue with the plug , where due to the vibration of driving something was making contact and making the radio think something was being plugged in to the Aux input. Inserting the 1/8" jack in the input seems to have moved things so that they no longer make connection creating the false input. Try it, it's free. If it doesn't work go back to the dealer.

Thank you for the help, you are absolutely correct. It worked for me.
I did plug in a patch cable with out connecting anything on the other end and that made the problem go away until I got it in for service.
I did take it in Friday and they found the USB/AUX/SD module in console was bad. The 1/8" jack is shorted out. New one on order. They will call as soon as it is in. Until then I will use your idea and keep ear buds plugged in. Thanks for all the input from everybody!

There is always a reason... My wife recently bought a fiat 500L which has the uconnect system in it. She has the same issues with it as folks on here report with the RAM. I will have her plug something into the AUX jack and see if it works on her fiat. Whatever sub contractor they have making their media hub didn't do their job very well!

Media hub replaced and the truck is now problem free!!!
3 fill ups in a row that averaged 19.2 MPG empty going to work 26 miles each way mostly on the highway at 70MPH.
9 to 12 MPG while towing our pontoon boat at 70 MPH.
We are very happy with this truck.

Good to know, I have a few of those symptoms, all intermittent. Black screen in reverse, radio/media/radio/media/radio......and phone has been "downloading" for a week.
