I know this has been discussed in here before, but I have finally had it with the BLOW BY/SLUDGE SLINGIN' bottle on the front of our mighty engine. What were they thinking. I went to the hardware store and bought a 3/4" pvc male/male adapter, some hose clamps and 3 ft. of heater hose. First step, remove the bottle and throw it as far as you can:rolleyes: , Second step, plumb in your goodies and dump the new hose aft of the front diff. and walla... ... ... ... . you have no more messy sludge on the front of your engine:D :D Then wipe off all the messy crap that has accumulated on everything and lifes good!!:D

Basically did the same on mine after got sick of seeing that oily mess. I just went a little longer with a clear nylon hose, about 6 feet, went over the engine mount along the frame and ended up near the trans/transfer case skid plate. I don't know if just going straight down is a good idea! wouldn't road draft create a vacuum and suck oil from engine? Anyone care to comment?

Every big truck engine I have ever been around vents straight down. Granted it is a longer trip straight down from a Pete, but they don't seem worried about the vacuum.

I did the same as DASH. Went straight down with 3/4 heater hose and tie wrapped it to the track bar. No mess anywhere!

My truck is a 99 which doesn't have the bottle. The tube comes down and stops right in front of the center tie rod. The tie rod isn't even messy. Either there is something in that tube corking it off lol... or the rings on mine are sealed up tighter than a drum. I even checked it after driving over 100mph for %50 of an 8 hour drive... . still dry.

This tube was installed on alll engines back presmog laws. I can remeber on all sblock chubbies was located in the back right behind the distriutor. It doesnt remove large amounts of oil only a little but it does create a vacuum of some theoretical sort for the blow by air to be removed the air it draws this from above the oil retention line so no vacuum is formed and removes precious blood from our beating hearts
