A friend and I noticed the other day that the inside dimensions of our 8 ft. beds (on his "94 1500 and my "98 3500TD) are not square. He noticed this after installing a Leer cap on the back and noticing that things didn't seem quite square. The inner width at the tailgate was about 63" and a bit over 65" at the cab end. I am assuming that the beds were engineered this way, since neither of ours have been damaged in any way. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why the beds were engineered this way?
 
your truck is shrinking due to age :-laf







as posted its all due to aerodynamics, ever notice the myth of "I get better mpg with my tailgate down" isnt quite true... . they dont test these trucks with the tailgate down
