Well I've had my truck 8 months now and am enjoying it very much. I don't post here much because I haven't had much trouble with the truck... which is the way I like it.

Only two things I have found that I don't really like.

1. Crappy A/C... man that blower howls but relatively little A/C comes out. To make matters worse my Recirc door is busted and the fan has started making a harsh vibrating sound when on setting 3 or higher.

Even my wife noticed how long it takes to cool the cab and how little air flow it produces.

Is there an aftermarket fix for this? I have it lined up for the dealer to fix in early June.

2. Surface rust on the frames of some of my seats..... what a bummer in a 45K truck with leather.

Other than those two things it has been fun... that 5. 9 HPCR Cummins is just a joy to tow with and listen to running down the road. I just don't think I could go back to a V-8 diesel.

Had mine a year. No rust that I've noticed, but my '01 Chevrolet Impala LS (top of the line Impala at the time, loaded with leather) has rust on its seat metal. Stains on the floormats from that.

I LOVE my truck, 11 months into ownership by the bank.

The recirc door you are going to have to get fixed at the dealership under warranty. I think there is a TSB on it, and the new part should be stronger than the part you have.

The other things you can do to help your AC out are to put heat rejecting ceramic film tints on the window, such as Pinnacle by Formulaone, and to switch your R-134 out with HC-12 (AKA DuraCool). You can also try insulating the cab with something like Dynamat's Dynaliner. I recently did all three, and I can really tell a difference, although it will be interesting to see how it does in August. But for now, I can tell you that I can't keep the AC on max anymore and I did before the mods.

I did some digging and found this thread from last summer.

SKing's post on the blower motor voltage (4th post own the page) was particularly interesting, but he never gave any details on how he did it. I've been thinking about giving it a go.

I also found a recommendation for this AC additive, but haven't tried it myself.

Appreciate the follow up posts guys. I have read the Mega Cab AC thread before and forgotten some of the things in it.

At this point I'm just going to get the recirc door and fan fixed then I'll probably switch to the Duracool product from there.

I definetly want to get a satisfactory fix because I like the truck very much otherwise.

I had the recirc door issue and they replaced it under warranty and I just returned tonight from Lake Havasu with my boat and 6 passengers and the AC after the fix kept us all cool in 100+ degree after the fix.
