I bought what is supposed to be a #8 torque plate on e-bay. When it came, the top was screwed on with long machine screws rather than rivets like the factory one. While surfing today, I looked at pics of other plates and they seem to be welded togther or maybe all one piece? There were no screws or rivets in the pics I looked at.

I had my stock plate slid so it is hard to tell a performance difference other that seemingly lower egt's.

Did I take a screwin? Hope not. I was hoping this is just an older plate and they have been changed along the way. Its cut totally different than the stock one. Guess thats what I get for bein cheap and not buying new, but hey, $200 saved is $200:rolleyes:

Well I'm off to kill my dowel pin:D Wish me luck.

Chris

Well aren't you going to tell us what kind of deal you got?

Some earlier Bosch plates were screwed together. I highly doubt if it has a #8 stamped on it if it correlates to a TST #8

I'm stoked, won a John Deere tractor tech service manual today on ebay for $5. JD wanted $170 for it.

It's not a TST plate. You can get genuine TST plates for 150 on occasion, hope you got a really good price on that bogus plate.

Sorry :(

Picked it up for the reserve of $100. 00:rolleyes: It has 8 stamped on the top and bottom sides of the top piece with the mounting holes. Oh, well win some, lose some. My transmission is probably thanking me right now anyway.

Chris

The pic does not even slightly resemble a #8 plate. That thing looks like a Jr. High metalshop project!

Sorry:(

Call Piers and get the real one.

I'm with Cooker. I think he may have removed the rivets to make grinding easier then tapped and screwed it back together. Wouldn't doubt if the guy stamped 8 on it himself.

I thought that myself after it arrived. It is blue where the rack travels and I thought that the "real" plates are lazer cut so you shouldn't get heat marks like that. I posted before and knew it wasn't a TST or something like that, and I found a pic from the sale and just wanted to ask the guys that knew. It did to a good job on my transmission though:{ Oh well, fix the transmission, then buy a real plate... ... ...

After the past month, seriously thinking about UNBOMBING and goin back to completely stock. Cant afford to make big horsepower, might as well go for the million mile mark..... LOL:D
