I'm doing a 79 1 ton chevy 12v conv. and i was wondering what everyone else has done with the fuel tank(s)? Mine has dual tanks, but i dont know if i would be better off using one of them or take the time and use both? thanks
I had custom tanks made for mine because I shortened the frame. I think you could use the original tanks if they're in good shape. You may have to change the sending units but I'm not sure. On one of my other conversions I bought a Blazer tank and mounted it in the rear but on my most recent conversion I wanted to run with a spare under the bed so I did custom saddle tanks.
but if you want to you can simply get the deisel fuel tank pickups and swap them out no need to change them also you will want to swap or punch out your fuel filler necks for the fuel nozzel
So I can use both factory tanks and keep the factory switching device between the tanks? Is the holes going to be large enough if i run an aftermarket fuel system?
I dont think you will gain that much by haveing that big of fuel lines my self
the pump can only use so much fuel
you might check the dealers the 2 ton and bigger gms may have had bigger switching valves but even then i dont think you will need that big of fuel line
