'80'sl Jeep Cherokee/Renault Turbo Diesel

Does anyone have any experience with these?

I did not even know they existed until yesterday, when I ran across one locally searching "diesel fuel" vehicles...

Apparently its 4cyl - 126ci... haven't found much else yet.

I knew they had a 2. 5 liter 4 cylinder turbo diesel in the mid 80's but it was a VM Motorai (?, sp) similar to the 2. 8 in my Liberty. I would LOVE to have something like one of these in a WRANGLER!

it was a renault built unit, they got fairly good milage but now i belive parts are hard to come by.

It was a Renault Diesel little 4 cylinder - - test drove a new one in Ft. Worth in about 1983 or 84. It had the same power as the Chevy 350, I had at the time, but a little quicker pickup with the turbo. . Mechanic at the dealer said there was a problem getting parts, and they were new, so I stayed away
