New TDI Twin Turbo Diesel...

My buddy has an '82 VW Jetta Diesel (no turbo) and is having problems with a leaking pump. He's on his second pump, the seal went on one and an o ring on the other. Now's he's looking for pump #3. Seems to think lots of miles with the low sulfur (low lubricating) fuel is most of the problem.

Anyone know where to find some good info. on the pump itself? He has a manual for the car but it has very little info. about getting into the pump (not enough to change the seal). Better yet, anyone ever have one of these pumps apart.

Regards

Mike

If it's the front seal on the main shaft, I changed one several years ago. As I recall it was a piece of cake to change. Don't ask details because it was a long time ago. It stopped the leak I had.

I got the seal from "The Parts Place"... that was back in the catalog days. I'm sure they musy have a website now.

Send me an e-mail at -- email address removed -- and I can send an electronic copy of a Bosch manual that at least describes the VE pump operation... . it's not really a repair manual but it might help you.

Dealt with "Parts Place" in Pontiac Michigan for MANY years. They were always fantastic about everything. Still have my 1981 VW Pickup with the 1. 6 liter non-turbo. 237,000 miles, never touched the engine.
