83' GMC 3500 4x4 ->Cummins

A friend of mine has a 1983 GMC 3500 4x4 crew cab dually with a 6'' lift and a GM 350ci motor in it. Problem is he needs to sell it BAD. . I told him the only way it would sell is if it had a diesel Preferably a Cummins. What all would be involved in this project just to bolt it in and sell it?How much for a used 12 valve engine? It has a Turbo 400 Auto Trans in it, will that have to be dumped?Bellhousing? Wiring harness? OR . . he said he could take it to Cummins to install it. What should the asking price of this truck be? after the install. . it's in fair shape paint is decent and nothing else mechanically wrong.

Sell it as it is. He will never recoup the expense if it is done right unless he had everything to do it already and did it all himself. If he really needs to sell it that bad, can he afford to outlay all of the cash and time it would take? Sounds like a bad idea to me.

well, he sold it for $4,000 to a bunch of good ol' boys that as a matter of fact ARE putting a 12 valve in it with an nv4500
