OH OH! PepsiCo and Pfizer join forces!

I saw a bit of aviation history today!

I sold the frame, body and title to my '85 cj7 today :( .

Kind of have mixed feelings. Once I got it tore down I realized a full frame up rebuild didn't interest me, at the same time, it was a good jeep and I learned lots of tuning and fix up tricks on it.

The engine, rear axle, hard top and doors are on my wifes '82 cj7, and the drive train and most of the other hard parts are still here as spares for it.

I figure if I don't have an '85CJ around I better change my user name. Jeff

I've always wanted to get a Jeep. One from the late 70's to late 80s. My brother had a CJ5 a few years ago. I'm pretty sure it was a 1980 model. It had the GM 4 banger and boy was it gutless! His prior Jeep CJ5 had the 304 V8 and 4 speed. So he found a used 304 and rebuilt it, pulled the 4 banger and installed the V8. It had headers, side pipes (loud. . awesome!). We raced an IROC Camaro and BEAT him! :D I loved driving around with the windshield down on weekends cruising town.

He got that thing stuck a few times going camping (drinking. . you know how teenagers are. . ). I had to pull him out with my '79 4x4 Blazer once and he returned the favor later when my front driveshaft splines (where the shaft telescopes) spun on a wicked power line trail in the middle of BFE. . left me stuck with only 2WD. I thought I'd blown a front locking hub but discovered that only 1/2 the driveshaft, the transfer case half, was spinning but the other half wasn't. :p

Boy do I miss the off roading days... spending 5 bucks in quarters at the local car wash every weekend... removing the rear wheels to flush out the mud from the drums... priceless! :D

Sometimes I take my Ram off road but it's so heavy I'm afraid to get it stuck. . might not get it back! :)
