Okay, before I get totally bashed its just an old truck we use around the field. My problem is, I was driving down the road and it sputtered and quit running. The engine will crank but not fire. I can smell gas, its a 302 FI with about 190,000 on it. Anyone have any ideas and what can be tested?

Thanks in advance!

Check to see if you are getting spark to verify it is ignition related, pick up module should be found inside distributor under rotor I believe. ( Haven't touched a Ford in quite some time now)

The ignitions with the controller on the outside of the distributor where the vacuum advance used to go are very likely to fail. Ford settled a class action suit (http://www.tfisettlement.com/) a while back over the TFI "Thick film integrated" ignition module, I've found a no spark problem in these years is usually the controller.

I would test the fuel pump too. It could also be the return fuel pressure regulator has failed somewhere. I don't have the spec in front of me, but fuel pump pressure should be around 35 psi (I can't remember if it's supposed to be 22 or 45, so I just guessed in the middle).

If that's not it, go out and buy a $20 scanner for the EEC-IV and see if it has anything to tell you. In spite of the speed-density program, rotten starter switches, rotten power window design, lack of power, and a few other things, that motor is pretty tough and runs pretty good (when all the parts function).

Keep us posted.
