89, 4X4 ball joint replacement

I have to replace the ball joints on my friends , 1989, 4X4 this weekend. Do I need anything special. Thanks Stan

They are Kingpin axles, no balljoints if that helps any.

If it is a gasser, it will have ball joints. The only special tool you will need is the socket for the upper sleeve in the "C" on the housing.

Its a diesel, 4x4. Its the bearings on the knuckels. I was woried that I would have to do some shiming. I was thinking that the bearings might have some sort of preloading on them. Thanks, Stan :

The preload comes from the spring under the top plate.
