Heard a bunch broke?

Not a bunch if you consider the #'s. I think we had 3 or 4 break. 'Ol Shed Putter broke something..... an axle I think... . d-side rear tire quit pulling at like 20 feet I think (from my tape).

I was just happy to get all the way down the track w/o breaking..... was my first time hanging weights! :D

was first in the first pass was last in the pull off. I think the order reversed itself with exception of spuds not being able to make a second hook. Can you say KNock Knock very impressive pass by the max boys

hard to get people to come and pull if the track is notorious for carnage. how did brad ingram do?

Nick the track has usually been a good place to pull. In the last year its turned into crap. 3 or 4 Mod class trucks broke BAD there earlier this year.

The gentlemen in charge of track prep (NOT THE DHRA) spent 1/2 the day on there BUTTS doing nothing till DHRA actually showed up and probably told them to get moving. Funny..... KYDTR members were asked if we would volunteer to help with the track... . I was one of the 1st ones to volunteer... . when I asked the people in charge they kept telling me there was nothing I could really help with.

They did a fine job on track prep. It was smooth and had plenty of water. And was done on time.

The track was a Biter. It took a smooth pulling truck and an exprienced driver to get it done.

Biting tracks call for more air pressure, less tread and or/smaller tire, a few weights left on the trailer, and a lower hitch.

Did anyone do that?

Of course not, they were back at the scale, trying to get away with 8300 pounds, 28" hitches, etc.

I was 24" and 7900. I should have been about 20" and 7500. I wish I would have had my small tires.

TRACKS ARE DIFFERENT, LEARN TO READ THEM AND ADJUST ACCORDINGLY. Keep a logbook.

Thats part of pulling. :)

GS... ... ... ... ..... You said it was "my club", so why didn't you fix "your" track. Seems to me it shouldn't take DHRA to prepare a track. Something else was very wrong.

. . Preston. .

What he said was that "MY CLUB" wasn't allowed to touch the track.

It's been a very touchy subject with members of the club because we get the feedback and it was out of our hands.

In the street class, the green machine that J. R. Adkins built was the truck to beat. It pulled 313ft, the next truck was at 306'. Unfortunately we lost a freeze plug and coundn't make the pull off. Watch out next year this truck will be turning heads where ever it pulls.

Preston read TWO POST'S ABOVE!?

I said DHRA made them get off their BUTTS!?!? WTH Man? Re-read it I said "I volunteered to help!" I was turned down! after driving 4 hrs the night before, spending $100 on a hotel, and getting to the grounds @ 9AM! I was very #@$%! #@$%! #@$%! to say the least.

Anybody wishing to read just click my KYDTR link, and find the thread titled "Smokin The Bluegrass Ideas '06"

That was my point... something else was very wrong. If the club was not allowed to prepare the track,or even give advice, why didn't y'all kick some butt without the DHRA. If it's your name tied to the event, it sounds like you should take charge or find another venue. Your reputation is on the line and I wouldn't anything to impune my name. Nothing, even if I had to cancel. The carnage you speak of, was the track or just bad luck.

Just find another place to hold the next pull and tell those yahoos to kiss off.

My point of the "my club" post, was your name was on the event. That's enough for me to kick "knees" in itself.

Oh! Ok Preston... ... sorry I was so harsh then.

I agree whole heartedly with you. I would say its a safe bet that the same people will not be in charge next year. :-{} :-laf

Got ya there too Preston.

The deal was the club only sponsored the dyno and truck show at the event. We have advisory roles to the host but hat's it. He bares responsability. As far as the track, other than individually volunteered help, the club as an entity was told no deal.

It's being worked out for next year with some more definative roles for those involved.

It's hard not to alienate people when it's a group involved.

I am however pleased that the DHRA was there, as it was a concern early on. I was glad to see the patronage it brought with it. Hopefully the event will be at another venue and advertised on a national level.

Thanks for the thoughts though guys.

Hell Gene, you passed about 3 feet from me more than once... We thought you were gonna speak to us at one point because Eric had on a DHRA shirt. I thought it was kinda cool... hate to use the word celebrity but... . :D

LMAO nice touch Mark... I think EVERYONE knew you were around mark. . tie-die boy!

Hey when a shop such as Cedar City Diesel goes BEYOND the extra mile to get you back on the road for a pull that weekend you want it known.

That being said I originally just took a black marker and wrote it on a white work shirt. I got to my fiance's house Friday afternoon to change and leave and she had those shirts done..... yeah... she worked 1/2 the afternoon on them... . and we had the whole weekend ahead of us. Wasn't getting out of that one. :-laf
