I am using a 90 12 valve as the power train in a project car and I want to know how to get a little extra from a stock motor. I have married a 1953 Hudson Hornet to a 90 drive train from a 2500 truck with 200,000 miles. I will use this rig to haul a car trailer. What do you suggest to get more uuumph out of the motor. The car is in body work now and all running gear is up and ready.

You need to read the stickies on the top of the first gen forum. As always get a boost gauge and a pyro so you know where you are at boost and heat wise. Then there are some simple tweaks to the pump. After that some injectors, maybe a differnt turbo.

Like said above read the stickies at the top of the forum.

My question is a Hudson Hornet? Wow, is that ever a conversion. I bet the boys at cummins never dreamed their little 5. 9 would end up in a 1953 car! I would love to see some pictures.

**Too Kewl** Oo. I think this might be even cooler than the S-10 project. I'd love to see pics also. When you get the engine and car in the same proximity, start a thread in the conversion forum with pics.

12 valve power upgrade

Don't know that I would have paid the price for them but I bought a truck with PODs, smaller turbo housing and tweaked pump timing and I can tell you that they put some serious kick to the Cummins. Little bit much on the smoke but very noticable power boost. You can controll the smoke with your foot.

Just a thought here but... . I have had some success with smoke issue's with the following... .

Since the POD's send lots of fuel right from the idle on up, you don't need much if any boost triggered fueling early on... try increasing the starwheel tension a fair bit.

Now, on my truck I am running fairly aggressively even on my winter settings but right now, in valet mode, I get 32'ish psi boost good temps and fair to modest smoke.

The boost fueling when switched on, does not trigger until about 20-24 psi boost since the injectors and the pump mods are giving me more than enough for the average daily driving...

Try tuning the starwheel and AFC cone a bit... . you'll need to tinker with it but you will find a good middle ground.

Oh, try to use a good cetane enhancer for additive too... it does help.
