Want to dump V10 in 2000 Ford Excursion

Some work done, hood is there, also traced down the reason for non working rpm and speedo, wasn't a big deal, just ground wire for the meters wasn't connected. I Jacked up the rear end, started it up and put it on a gear and wow, they were working. Now the odometer shows one mile! Going to put the dash together with old dash pad, new one would be on it's way to me soon.

Congratulations! After 3 years and 9 months, you've got to be excited about getting this work of automotive art on the road!

Thanks dude! at the end of this week or at latest on next, I'll make the test run, no matter what. The gauge cluster work continues on a form of warning lights. I had a partially broken -01 cluster on a shelf and it has just perfect warning lights to use in my custom made cluster. Will post pics tomorrow when I have something to show.

Timo

Pics of how to transfer needed warning lights from -01 gauge cluster in to the burban's. All what's needed, is some kitchen table work with scissors and some milling. What's left to do for this evening is to connect wires to the leds.

I shure wish my guages and dash was going to work that nice , or i hadyour skillsand few of your toys to work with , very good work !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Timo, that dash looks sweet, I'd love to see that truck in person! I think the TDR needs to do a story on it and fly you and the truck to one of the TDR gatherings, you are an artist. Very nice workk my friend.

NICE! Oo.

Be sure to take video! We want to hear that thing breathing through that custom exhaust manifold/header!

Hey Chris, haven't checked up on this thread for several months but good to see you've test-fired it already. I too would be interested in how the exhaust sounds although I realize you probably haven't had it running enough to really comment on what it sounds like.

I really like the morph work you did to the instrument panel. Those early 2nd-Gen Dodge gauges really look at home in the Chevy bezel!

Chris... .

I try to arrange some video or sound clip ones I get it on the road. So far the only "driving" has been backing it out from the garage and back in, just to test the transmission. What's left to do is, wire the cruise control, make a new expansion tank and washer fluid container, front end alignment and get rid off unneeded wires and of course a lot of road testing and adjustments, to get everything the way I want it.

Doh! My appologies Timo. . . everyone who knows me knows I'm bad with names! Not sure where I came up with Chris

Hey don't worry about doing a video or sound clip, I think eveyone here is more interested in seeing you spend your time getting that great project finished up :)

I am amazed

I just read all 35 pages of posts and your whole website about this project and I am amazed and inspired. Keep it up, and thank you so much for showing us mortals how to do it right.

Test run done and trans bolted off. There were only R and first gear, nothing else. After trying with another valve body which wasn't any better, I tested the clutches and servos with pneumatic air, find out that the rear clutch wasn’t engaged. Dropped the transmission off and most likely I'm opening it up today to see what's wrong with the clutch. Looks like it's going to be next week, before the trans is done and back on, since I gotto spend weekend elsewhere.

Timo

Trans back on, waiting for output sensor which I should get today, then it's time for another test run. All the clutch pack's and servo's are now guaranteed to work, at least that's what they did when testing them with pneumatic air. I'm pretty sure the problem is on the electric side, will see today, after changing the sensor.

That sounds typical of the electronic trannys , why they ever went that direction , I dont under stand ,same thing happend with my sisters 96 Town and Country , why couldnt of they just added a peice on the out side to monitor the speed and transpressure to controll the shifting , stupid electrronic junk now days

One big reason I'm going back to all mechanical. I tried a 97 Suburban 6. 5 (sold) for a couple years. Now I'll have either a Cummins or International DT466 if I can hack, I mean make it fit...

The transmission I've got is a MT643 beast. Electronics are excellent when the work properly, but its something about age and Vermont weather... .
