Want to dump V10 in 2000 Ford Excursion

Progress but not pics, yet!

Well, the summer has been a quiet time what comes to my Cummins project, been busy with other things, after all, I'm married with kids (twins) so, I'm sure that you

know why my projects sometimes goes into the "slow mode" but yes, there are some updates, although no pics has been placed to the page but the block, crank and new pistons,( Mahle #286011, 0. 30" over), are currently on a local machine shop. The crank is grinded and is ready to be picked up with new bearings. The block should be borer during the next week. Next thing to do is take to the block back to my garage and carefully measure how much to mill off from the surface of it (I want to do it by myself) then bring it back to the shop to be milled. Parts what needs to order are new cam with lifters, I've considering to use of PDR cam and lifters. By the way, has anyone

have a long term experience of that cam?

I can't think of anyone off hand that has had the Piers cam for a lengthy period... ... maybe you could email Piers himself and ask?

hyvä suomi

another finn eh? :-laf that's some good fab. skills you have there... [oh, and that's about all the finn i can read or write, but i can speak it ok. ;) :-laf]

looks like the Finns are all over, small nation but spread all over the world. Okie then... Back to business... I send all my second rings to Total Seal, they made a gapless rings from out them. I got the rods back to home from shop, now it's time to beam polish and balance them, basically that's what has been happening lately.

Oh, almost forget I also order from PDR their cam, 3000 rpm kit, high flow delivery valve kit and afc spring kit. No new pics on the page yet, but soon

there will be, at least when I took the rods under work. Been busy with my spare part Jeep lately, it needs to parted down during the next week.

Still no pics

New things on the project. Machine shop dude call and tell that . 030 is not enough, still some pitting. They admit, it was their mistake, so now they are installing a cylinder sleeves for it, not so bad, it's starting to turn series C engine.....

Total seal

Total Seal rings are arrived. I send all my #2 rings for them and they machined a top part to accept a additional ring which to use to make them cap less.

Here's the pic of Total Seal ring.

Pistons

Slight progress on my project, no pics just words. The rods small and big ends are now balanced, next step is take them to shop for shot peening.

I scale the pistons and pins (the weight of the rings and retainers where all equal) yesterday evening and found out that there is a 4 gram between slightest and heaviest piston and one pin was 0. 5 gram lighter than the others and one was 1. 5 gram heavier. Next thing is to mix them with the pistons to get the weight even as possible and bring the rest to the weight of the slightest piston/pin assembly by grinding metal off from both end holes of the pins.

Mushroom cc

Change for plans, before I start to bring the pistons to same weight I checked the volume of mushroom and they turn out to be all equal 44cc.

That's a good thing, now I don't need to start wonder where to grind to make them even, after that I mix the pins with pistons and now

they are in 3 grams of each other but today I'm going to match them to be equal, absolutely no cap... ...

Pistons and pins

Dudes

I got the pistons balanced, took a few evenings in the garage.

I honed the pins to get the weight of piston/pin compo even. Now I need to drill new holes for loaned engine stand to get the block for it, then I could measure and check the crank shaft line related to block surface... . let see what I find out.
