I just went to look at this truck. It needs a lot of work but the engine started right up and sounds good and the auto transmission seems to work good. The brakes pull to the right and are spongy, the steering has a little play. The accellerator is very stiff, windshield needs replaced, RF fender is toast, RR fender is cracked. tires are about 50%, lots of loose dash wires and speedo doesn't work- no idea of mileage. But I guess for $1500 you can't expect too much. If I was 20 yrs younger and had the time and money I would snap this up for something to keep me out of trouble.

Funny you should ask

The Allison went to pot while sitting, suddenly no reverse! I suspected the GearVendor OD unit, but a transmission shop pulled and rebuilt the nearly new Allison. I put it on Craigs list, got a buyer, credit union approved the entire price for loan, buyer chartered a plane from Texas City. Got here, loved it so we took the pilots back to the airport in it and back to my house to give him the title. While turning around in our cul de sac had to back up, no dice, stuck tightly in drive!

I towed it to the house with my minivan and got under it this morning. They routed the 36 ft shifter cable on the wrong side of the speedo cable, making it rub the parking brake drum! Welded the cable to the housing. Buyer bought a ticket back home on SouthWest. What a bummer.

Don, sorry to hear that! Maybe the buyer will come back after it's fixed.

It's pretty sad when you have to check to make sure somebody else fixed it right!

I took the photos to the shop (it was a good shop) and they shook their heads and came and got it to do the fix. I tend to think the buyer will still take it regardless.

Back to the $1500 dually.

I'd pass on it. I got mine for $800, and I have put some work into it, but the other truck wasnt the bargain I thought it was. I made like $400 on it in the end- comes to about $4 an hour for my time.
