I'm looking to swap my 9006 fog light bulbs out w/ the 9005s however, I don't want to if it will actually be worse when driving in heavy fog/snow (like turning on your brights will hurt visibility).

So, can anyone that has done this mod tell me whether or not it made visibility worse in fog/snow?

Thanks.

9005s in the fogs are exponentially brighter -- the brilliant light is only a few feet in front of the rig -- i have noticed no effect w/snow or fog.

I also did the Fogzilla and removed it after the first set of lights burned out. Most 9005s are only rated for 300 hours. I use the fogs all the time for night time driving, and any brighter asphalt four feet in front of the truck is offset by frequent replacement of the bulbs. Not worth it IMO. Your results may vary.

If you do that mod, consider the 9005AW (all weather) bulb. Its a low glare yellowish color better suited IMO if your going to truly use it in foul weather.

Well, I did end up going w/ the 9005 bulbs and I got the Sylvania Ultra Silverstars.

Matt, I may take your advice and try some of the 9005aw bulbs to see how they work. I see they don't cost very much and they look like they'd be a little better suited for fog/snow.

I have the 9005 with Fogzilla and really like it. The lights are much brighter but it stays low and does not have any snow reflection. Both of my bulbs burned out after 2 yrs. but i use them often.
