Well the rain finally stopped and I was able to get the cab set in place and bolted down, Exhaust from the turbo to the muffler in, dropped the gas tank and started to install the fuel tank.

I hope to get the rear swapped before I have to go to work tomarow

Man I can't beleve it's starting to come together :-laf

Ya, Looking good! Oo.

When you put that 91 front clip on are you planning on fitting in a intercooler? Even if you don't plumb it up right away, at least it will be there? ;)

As a matter of fact I ordered one of them thingamagigs to LOL :-laf

I'm having Auto World in great falls pick me up the reset of the stuff I need for this project. When I get her together Let the bombing begin! :D

Ok, Now I'm tring to swap Dashes, but I ran into a couple of issues

1 I need to put the cluch hydrolic thing in and I have no bolt holes for it. Any one have a sugestion on how to drill those holes in that tight area?

2 then when I figure the first one out, I'll need to move the hole in the fire wall for the bulkhead wiring harness

I need to get the dash and stuff together by wensday, I have the windshield guy comming out wednesday morning The windshield is anouther story

oh well it was crached anyhow :D

On my never ending project truck, I used a 1985 cab and needed the clutch setup and fuse setup like a 93. I cut a rectangular section from the 93 cab and welded it into the 85 firewall. This got me the clutch hole and relocated fuse block at the same time, without a lot of filling and cutting.

Ok, Today I took my di grinder and put an 1/8 inch drill bit in it and started the holes for the bracket, once started I used cutting bits to enlage the holes. Once I had the bracket bolted in I drilled out the 2 1/2" hole in the fire wall. So now I have the heater box from the 91 installed, Cluch hooked up and the 91 dash with wiring in. So the truck is ready for the new windsheild to be installed on wednesday. I think tomarow I'm gonna start putting the frount clip on, I'm going to use the 91 core suport, and my old fenders for now.

today I put the Frount clip on, and hooked up the engine wire harness.

Next I'll remove the d60 4. 10 rear to install the D70 3. 55 rear The question is weather or not to install the anti locking breaks

Yeah Looking at that ABS post, I think I'm going to do away with the ABS.

Here are some pics from yesterday, again it don't look like much, but I'm going to focus on the body later when I'm not so short on funds. I will however be buying a new grill, I found a place that has then on line.

I can't beleive I'm almost ready to get her running!!! with a little luck It will be running within a week Oo.

How easy did the grill go on to the 85?

Ben

?? I used the 91 Radiator suport and lower filler panel, so it bolts right on. I think all you need is the 91 filler panel I'll compair the two later today, but I't will be a week before I can post pictures again ( the wife has the camera and she is away)

MTownsend,

How did you were to locate the front springs for the 4x4 conversion?

John

Well,,,,,,

After removing everything off the frount of both frames it was easy to get mesurements from the frount, and lay out the holes.

The frount frame section already has the holes for the spring hangers (once you drill the rivets out), they just need to be enlarged.

Then for the rear hangers I made a patern using the old frame, then mesured from the frount (where the bumper bolts on) and marked the centers of the holes, then mesured from the top of the frame rail down to mark the centers the other direction. Then I layed my patern over the marks and painted it in.

Before I drilled any holes I checked and rechecked the mesurements.

Really it was one of the easyer things I've done on this project

lay out the shock mount and steering box holes before you bolt the stuff on.

Hope This helps

Mike,

Thanks for the info.

No problem. One more thing,,,,Buy a good set of drill bits. I had one set last through drilling all the rivets out on both frames and Drilling 42 plus holes to mount the stuff. up to 1/2" for most holes and 9/16" for the steering box. I also Had to buy a hole saw for the rear spring hanger 1-5/8" i think.

well the new windsheild and gasket is in $260 Wow I can see clearly :D , it's ashame windsheilds have a short life span here I'm shure it will be chipped and or cracked by the end of the summer

Unless the Montana gravel bullets end directly in my vision, I count the cracks as oil low fuel indicators. I lost 3 windshields in Cascade county one summer alone. I hardly traveled on the gravel roads either!!

A special thanks to United Materials and their uncovered dumptrucks blowing past me on Central ave west tossing rocks off their unmaintained duals.

So are you driving the truck around yet now?...

No, not yet, I've ordered a shifter and other parts from Auto World, and I'm waiting for spring bushings, and 5 galons of syntorq to come in from my parts man, And I still have a drive shaft that needs to get made. Once I finaly get everything, I'll have it on the road in about 3 days, :-laf Shes Close I just wish I could afford to do the body and pain work now. I'm thinking two tone blue and silver what do you think? Was also thinking about black and silver but then I'd have to change the interior color.
