MTownsend:

I have read and reread you post on what you did on your truck. I am still thinking about doing the 4 door cab swap. I am thinking about doing what you did as far as using the crew cab frame and putting the 4x4 parts onto that frame. My frame is a 76 and I have a donor 90 4x4 frame that I will use for all of the 4x4 spring hanger/cross member parts. Is there anything else that I might be needing when I start this process. I am thinking about using all of the 4x4 parts off of the 90 frame and then just pulling my 5. 9/transmission and case plus the wiring from my truck to get my 4 door cab. Right now I am looking at being into the crew cab truck (complete) and donor frame for less than $500. 00. Truck looks good, send pic when it is painted.

Thanks

Is this other (90) frame a Cummins?

Well the spring hangers would be the same, but I don't know about the transfercase cross member. I used everything I could from the cummins so there would be no question on fit. I even used the cross members for the fuel tank. The bigest thing that took time was waiting for parts (transmission was bad) I had the crew cab dow to the bare frame in two days and was driving it again in less than two months. that was working on it in my spare time!

Get some good drill bits and a air chisle wouldn't hurt for getting the 50 some rivets out of each truck. (getting the 2wd engine crossmenber out is a pain, it has to be cut out)

Mike:

Yes my donor frame is a 90 Dodge Ram Diesel 4x4 frame. It has everything that I think that I need to do this project. Thanks for your help. I will get pictures as this moves forward and will post them so everyone can see the finished project.

Thanks
