91 Cummins 727 Torquefilte Non Overdrive For a backup truck should I stay away ?

I can get ahold of a 91 with 727 torquflite 3 speed. 170K and 4x4 . 354 gears I want the truck for my back up ,it has a gooseneck ball... everything ready to go. Should I be worried about the three speed killing milage ? I drive my trucks like grandpa and don`t go much over 55. Like a little feedback here. My 91 is in the weeds with cab rotted out from Illinois DOT salt addicts ,otherwise all it needs is brakes but the time,money ... ... I may part it out ,its a stick with 250K ,but Cummins starts and sounds new yet . Thanks for any thoughts on the torqueflite. Mark

Diese-juice, Wow thats gonna bite! Thats gonna bite. Back up truck on hold indefinately plus bank won`t loan on the 91 ,has to be much newer .

You will not get a speeding ticket on the interstate... Not unless you install 3800 spring and 60 lb. Valve springs

Check to see if it has a dana 71 or a 70 in the rear...
