My friend has a '91 CTD and it needs help. Shop thinks the Diagnosis is the injector pump. Truck will start up and run but not for long and will die. The truck will die and blow a bunch of blue smoke. Replaced the transfer pump about a year ago. I have an '01 and am not really familiar with the '91 model. What does this sound like to you guys. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

I'd agree with him, or more correctly, heed his advice.

You have to look out for shops these days. Injector pump is a BIG ticket for them, and if they can take the uniniated for a ride, many of them will. Mom had her car inspected last month (what a crock od ***** that is in this state), and the guy said her front brakes were wearing thin, and barely passed. I looked at them, and the thinnest one was more than 1/4" thick, or had about 15K left. Dummass looking for a brake job, or about $100.

Thanks for the info guys. How Do we go about fixing this. The truck used to die about every 30-40 miles and now does it every mile or two. Then will start after about thirty minutes or so. I really appreciate your input.

thanks,
