91 instrument cluster into 1990

Has anyone successfully installed an instrument cluster from a 1991-3 truck into a 1990 model? My original 1990 odometer quit working, and I have a 1991 complete instrument cluster to install. The 1991 cluster has separate left and right tell tale indicators for the turn signal, which would be great. Thanks for any advice!

Well I havent exactly did that but have swapped out clusters and guages from 85 into my 89. From pics Ive seen the 91-93's look near the same, so I imagine you could switch the whole cluster or part one out into yours. That is just remove the speedo and install it in your cluster, any guages that you want as long as your started with those guages, that is if you had a oil pressure dummy light instead of a guage then you can't just install a guage and expect it to work. I recently got a cluster out of a 85 D100, took the cluster and installed in my 85 D100, i took the oil pres guage and temp guage out and put my dummy lights in the back of the new cluster, then screw the dummy indicator plate on the front of the cluster. Swapped ammeters because mine didnt work on the W250, now I have extra temp and oil pres guages. Bill

The 91 1/2 to 93 have a electronic speedometer ( and overdrive transmission ) . I have never had the dash out of a 89 thur 91(with the non overdrive transmission) but you might wont to check to see if the speedometer is cable driven . The whole dash(board and all with a lot of bolt and screw turning) can be switch out very easy from a 91 1/2 thur 93 all the way back to 1980 if you are doing a Cummins conversion in a four door but you have to use the wiring harness from the 91 1/2 thur 93 along with the pcm and all the rest of the electronics from the 91 1/2 thur 93 including all the wiring under the hood , the whole ac unit , steering column , and brake booster . It will all bolt in fairly easy.
