That ain't all. I hope he gets the new pump on with all the bolts and fuel lines in place. Hard post to read. That's the first P7100 I've heard of exploding. Man!

. . Preston. .

I worked on one once that had pieces and parts of both the old and the new kit in it. It never ran right. (911 / 180hp pump).

The customer's daughter was able to have a civil idle and predicatable revs w/out it dieing under quick accelertion once all the old parts were removed and the retainer nut to stud was set at about . 045-. 055.

He was fortunate, and seemed to have no apparent pump damage as was previously described. For some, a DIY project can become very expensive. :(

Good luck

No offense, but that guy with a similar situation had broke one of his spring keepers when he went to the 4k, not from improper installation. ;)

Yeah I shoulda added that too, My thought was that although its simple to those handy to a wrench, it can backfire when someone not comfortable with an install does this and maybe didn't understand the tips or tricks. Then something goes wrong, maybe they were or were not in over their heads and it would have happened anyway.

Getting paid to repair a mess is often no fun and that sometimes its cheaper to pay a competent DIY, tech or other wrench that understands it, to avoid ole Mr. Murphy if possible. Ever try running a die down a gov. stud trying to straighten a few errant cross threads while the pump is still on the truck? Its grand fun, I promise! I do agree its a bad day when a ten dollar keeper ruins a pump worth several grand. :(
