One more question for the board. I am probably going to install a helix 3 camshaft real soon. It has a power band of up too 5000 rpms. I was told that a s#!t load of timing is needed to achieve HP at these rpm levels, which makes sense due to the slow burning properties of diesel fuel. I am planning on having brady at industrial injection build me a p-pump, I just want to know what you guys think of the 913 pumps. I have heard that they have an automatic timing advance as apposed to the fixed timing pump that is currently on my truck (185). How much advance can you achieve with a 913??? If I have an initial timing of 26 degrees, can I set up the 913 to advance to say a total of 40-ish degrees @ 5000 rpms??? please help! Thank you for your advice!

I don't think it works like that. Need someone more familar with pumps. I know the 887/913 pumps will fuel better past the 3800 rpm mark. I believe this is do to the different cam in them and they have better fill times.

JTEdieselram:

I own a 1996 Dodge CTD 12 valve, with the automatic transmission and had the "180" P-7100 Fuel pump on it. Recently, I had Scheid Diesel install a 913 for me in conjunction with a new engine rebuild. I can tell you that the 913 performs much better than my older 180. The 913 had already been "recalibrated" before I bought it and Scheid made some more modifications to it to help the power. With Schieds governor springs, I can get over 4,000 RPM out of the truck with no problem. I am told the 913's have a "light load advance" on them to help takeoff and I feel that the takeoff of my 96' was helped by me adding this pump. You can call and talk to either J. P. at Scheid's Terre Haute Shop @ 1-800-669-1593 or Mike Wood at Scheids Effingham Shop @ 1-800-669-1934 if you need more info on what you are trying to achieve.

Hope this helps you some.
