'92 5 speed battery not charging

Friend of mine's truck is giving him a bit of trouble. It stopped charging the battery so he replaced the altenatorand and still it isn't charging. I guess there is a rumor that a sensor could be the culprit but not for sure about that or where it is located and any part # could be helpful.

There's been a run on these things lately! :-laf Down on the harmonic balancer, there is a sensor. The wire comes straight up to the head, then goes around the behind IP. The wire may be chewed -laf) frayed, dirty connection at the plug or something like that. Let us know how you make out.
