Guys,

On a 92-93, 2500, 4x4, ex. cab, with automatic transmission. Do they all have bench seats? I'd prefer one with bucket seats. Are there any(factory) trucks out there like that? All I ever see are bench type. Still huntin' me a truck to buy.

Thanks.

Hi

I have a 1993 W250 4x4 extended cab with automatic transmission, and it has bucket seats in it and I bought it new in Aug. 1993

Bucket Seats

Bucket seats were only available from the factory with the extended cab.

There are however several aftermarket companies that make replacement seats that will fit our trucks. The basic concept is two bucket seats, with either a consol or jump seat between them. The seats are mounted on a frame that fits in place of the bench seat.

Posted this photo before unfortunately it was rotated and the edit function would not let me repost it. Will try it again!

Yea!

Great response's to my question. Now I know they are out there, and if I get one with a bench I'll go with Neil's recommendation. Those are NICE!

Thanks guy's.

Lordsman,

I tried twice to post a picture but it wouldn't work. Can't figure this picture post thing out!

Was going to E-mail one to you but you have blocked your address. Send me an address and I will E-mail a picture of the seats in my 93.

man those are awesome seats do they take away and leg room from the stock bench, looks like you truck is the same color and everything as mine how did you put the tach next to your other gauges what is it bolted to

Aftermarket Seats

Dirver and passenger seats are adjustable, they both came with rails, also can be reclined and tipped forward to access behind seat. Few things you need to know, seat backs are deeper than bench seat was, this means less room behind seat than before. I had to make the mounting bracket myself so that the center seat would clear the gearshift properly, and also to allow under seat storrage to be accessed. The brackets supplied with the seat placed them too low and forward more than how I have them. My bracket places the backs of all the seat backs in line in the position that I typicaly adjust my seat to, also raised the front of the seat 2" higher. The only other problem that I had was very slow delivery, was promissed 2 weeks confirmed by mfg. , ended up waiting over 2 months, and never did manage to get instructions or hardware. Can send you a sketch of the seat bracket if you wish to make your own.

The tach you see in the photo, is the factory optional unit, it mounts to the top of the dash, have had it since the truck was about a year old. The gauges are mounted in an Autometer pillar mount, was only dumb luck that they all fit together so well, can send you a photo if you like.

Stan in order to post a photo, first it must be re- sized to a maximum of 400 x 400 pixels and then saved in a suitable format such as jpeg and it should upload just fine. If you like send the photo to me and I should be able to get it to work.

My '93, which I purchased new in Jan. of '93 had factory bucket seats. They were nice but not all that comfortable so I went with after market seats. I like to drive but my back doesn't like to ride with me. With the after markets I can go for 12 hours if I want to. I am starting to see some splitting on the drivers seat but they are still as comfortable as the day I got them. They are Flexsteel seats.

Happy Trails

Neil,

Thanks for posting the picture for me. Sure wish I could get this figured out!

Does the top gauge in your pillar mount seem to be pointing up a little too far? I have removed my dash mount and put the Pyro and boost gauges in the same position as you did. The Pyro could be pointed downward just a little to make it easier to read.

Pyro Gauge

I have the seat pulled up most of the way, and sit fairly tall, so I am looking slightly downward at the pyro although it is tilted slightly upward more than it should be. I guess it would be possible to tilt the gauge in the pod slightly, but the pillar mount can't be put much lower than it is now. Only the very bottom left of the gauge dial is a little hard to read, but it never goes that low with the engine running. I still think this is the slickest way to mount these gauges, the original plan was to mount them on the top of the dash just like Stan did, would not mount under the dash, just to far away to be of any use. Had seen a photos of a single gauge pillar mount for our trucks and a 2holer for the second gens, so checked the Autometer web site and found they also had a two holer for the first gen. The other possibility is monting the gauges into individual pods and fastening them to the window pillar, only all the wiring would be showing, but it would make them fully adjustable.

Any time you need to post a photo Stan just send it to me and I can re-size it for you! Unfortunately the photo software is not quite as user friendly as the photo printing software, took me several months to figure it out.

Neil,

If I say so myself, nice looking gauge set-up (egt, boost & tach). That is exactly what I have, except I have the boost gauge at the top and the pyro at the bottom. I also like your bucket seat set up.

Hello Al

Nice to hear that you like my interior Al, the only other mod that I had currently planned to do my truck is upgrade the injectors, have had to put this on hold until the economy improves:(. Spent too much in the fall on computer stuff and a digital camera, and used up my bombing fund, now will have to wait for the automotive tooling market to come back on line so I can get some overtime. :D

Sorry Paccool,

Someone on this site sent me an E-mail with a few viruses as well.

So, until I have time to get software to upgrade my virus protection my e-mail stays blocked. Your seats are nice as well. Good to know there are a few options available. Thanks.
