Thank you. I was planning on putting 265/75 R16 on these rims but the tire dealer said he would,nt recomend it if they were only 6 in. wide, and said he would stay with 235/85 R16.

I have run 265/75 without a problem. Check the rim width for sure but I was told the stock rims were 7 inch rims.

The tire dealer should be able to check the wheel width on the truck. They use a BIG set of calipers that has a sliding scale at the head that has an indicator and some wheel width numbers. They simply go over the tire and measure the width of the rim. the tire shop I used to use did this all the time.

My rims are 16x6. Called several tire places and they all agree that you must have 7 inch rim to run 265/75 R16 safey. They have charts that tell what rim widths for different tires. 16x6 rims are made for the 85 wide tires.

Apparently some ctd,s come with 6in and some with 7 in rims. I didn,t notice it before but it even says 16 x 6 rims on my drivers side door post. Where could i find some 7 in rims other than the dealer?I wonder if the off-set would be the same on the 7 in rims compared to mine, also would my hub caps fit?

I just ran outside and looked at my door sticker... it says 6 inches... but I measured the rims at 7 in to the inside of the beads. And the junkyard rims I bought measured the same as the ones that were on the truck.

Seems like I remember one of my 3/4 tons having 16x6. 5 wheels. All my FOrds had 265s; never had a Dodge 4x4 long enough to wear the tread out. ALways had some poor soul some along and offer me $1000-1500 momre than I paid for it. I see no reason they wouldnt work- unless you have the front end sag of some older FIrst Gens.

I put some pics in my "Reader's Rigs" album showing what the 265-75 tires look like on the stock rims. They look like they fit fine.

ps ... you have to look past the dirt and road salt/sand... .
