My intercooler is like swiss cheese. A new one from dodge is $650 a new banks is $890, what is the difference and will the stock one stand 30lb of boost. I have had the gauge near there several times with the intercooler leaking. I dont know what to expect for pressure with out the leaks. Any comments would be appreciated. I have already had the turbo changed by Diesel Injection of Pittsburgh.

What in the world did Pete and the rest of Bruce's boys do to that thing to get 30#?

I bought a Dodge intercooler after visiting them (mine would only hold 21#). It has held up to 28# for a year now.

I wonder what a good radiator shop could do with an intercooler to stop the leaks.

I do not know what you can get a first gen cooler for but one of the radiator shops (the first one I called on referal) quoted me $374 for a second gen. It is supposed to be made by the same company that builds them for Dodge.

I have read a couple of times here that the second generation unit works better and can be fitted into a first generation.

There is a 1999 one on Ebay right now that has a broken tab on it and it is still priced low at this time. Check out Ebay item #1804237115.

I do not know what is involved in installing this in a first generation, but if you run a search you might find out. Or someone who knows might get the info to you.

Good Luck!

It is interesting that you say a 2nd gen can fit into a first gen vehicle.

I have aquired an intercooler from a 97 that was in an accident. It is repairable, but at first look, appears way to wide to fit in very easily.

Hopefully someone who has done this will add some comments. I have an early 91 and would like to put this unit in my truck if it will fit.

If I managed to stuff one in a 72 suburban you should be able to get one in a 1st gen dodge. Paul Herioux is putting one in his 1st gen. Send him a PM.

What radiator shop and what is their phone# I can pay alot of freight for $300. 00. Thanks, As far as 30lb of boost all they did was adjust pump and change turbo housing and of course add gauges.
