92 ram 250 w/ 5-spd manual

My "92 250 often shudders while I'm backing up. What's the fix?

It could be your clutch grabbing.

What I meant by shudder was it begins lurching when I let the clutch out in reverse. Not every time. I've watched it do it with someone else driving -- the rear springs start boinging and the back end starts jumping up and down.

I seem to recall reading somewhere in TDR (or in this forum) that it was a clutch problem, but what clutch part? Plate? Disc?

The transmission shop where I have it now never heard of this problem.

mine does that too. . only not "boinging" ... when i put it in reverse... and it is engaged in gear the truck has torque... i believe that is it... . 90 5spd 4:10 rear and 285's on 16x10 rims... . my a$$ end is pretty light and this also will help.

My 92 does the same thing. . There is just no weight on the rear and the torque of the motor is hard on the tires. But put about 3k lbs in the bed it cures the probem...
