James, keep your chin up! When one door closes another opens. As far as engines go, Have you looked on car-parts.com. I also know I have seen some on ebay as well. I will start to pay more attention to them now that I know you are looking. Erik

Thanks Erik, i will check those out, got your PM, and if this rain would stop and sun come out for a long time and stay i think would be the best for me right now... .

well i was informed that my truck will be started on MondayOo. , which hasn't been to bad an ordeal but i been antsy but early on not able to drive etc... so its all working out, i am driving with supervision, not at that point of driving by myself but hopefully soon.

I believe i am still going to have a steel bed put on for one it makes more sense with the farm, easier access, can haul and strap down more and use of the gooseneck i have already so i see it as a win win for the farm here, as well as balance out the weight of the Cummins up front.

So with that said thanks again for all the encouragement and the advice, you guys are the best:D

Good luck on the rig, and the driving unsupervised. Kinda like being 15 again! At least that's how it was when I was 15. I believe I'm a little younger than most guys on the 1st gen forum.

well im in @ 35yrs but to be honest i don't feel it lol... . When i start driving without anyone with me it will be an adventure and just like getting my license for the first time again...

well the shop guy called yesterday evening late, got the truck done, just a brake issue he wants me to come check, on which i think is a wheel cylinder that i can remember:confused:

He said he had more pple wanting to buy that truck than anything he has ever had on his property, he said it ain't mine to sell LOL, He is a Ford man through and through but one hell of a mechanic so he isn't to fond of Dodge's not so common sense engineering but i think i got him convinced about the Cummins :-laf

Well later all going to ck on that this morning and then to the dentist:{ ouch!!

Well she is sitting in the driveway, may not look the greatest but other than the braking system which seems to have went to pot while sitting(master cylinder and wheel cylinder) she is mechanically sound once again, going to replace fenders, doors etc myself... .

The mechanic said one thing he said i bet that thing pulls like a #$%^ i said you have no idea when you hook up it won't stop pulling, he said one thing about it, thats a dam truck, drives like a tank... I am very fond of my tank lol:-laf

Oh you have no idea how nice it was to see it back in the drive. . Dad said you know its nice to see it back in the drive way lol... . even though it kills him to ride in the tank. Just gotta work on fix'n wheel cylinder on rht rear and i believe the master cylinder went while it was sitting, going to probably change out brake lines also, do rear brakes, not going to worry bout fenders and doors right now, i have doors lined up at a junkyard no fenders as of yet that are worth mentioning. Oh and im going to put a flat bed on it, be more use than the truck bed i can make me some side boards for hauling wood etc.

anyone with a Manual

Well truck in backed into the garage,(dad should have made it bigger) more truck than basement, anyways i picked up master cylinder, wheel cylinders, spring kits, brake pads, fluid and axle seals, my question is bout the seals, i had one here that i bought in '06 its a Nat. seal #455086 so i got a second one today, can anyone tell me if thats the right one, im doing some searching and finding that the single V/S dually used different sized seals. TIA

well got the correct seals, also working on the parking brakes, and well i had DC search all over, i was able to snag 3 of those obsolete clips for the parking brake cables, one from MO. and 2 from IND. one came today and well can anyone tell me which end goes where , one is solid and the other has 2 tabs, a picture would be wonderful LOL...

Okay well brakes are done, sorry i snapped a few pics but that was about it, was to much for me to handle and fix all at once... I know have both Emergency brakes working well sort of, does anyone know if i need to adjust them out more for them to hold, will hold on fairly flat ground to keep it from rolling off but any incline at all and no dice, and i believe i need to adjust the shoes out more when putting the drums back on the pass side was tighter, star wheel had no resistance on it so not sure why, and i can feel the right grab faster than the driver side.

The e brake pedal will go im going to say half way down and i have good resistance just will not hold on a incline, correct me if im wrong but should it not hold the truck completely...

Thanks again.

Yeah, it should hold. I would tighten up that left side a few clicks. My parking brake on my D250 will hold on a 25% grade nose up. (it's not optimally adjusted) That's about it's limit though. Drum brakes work better going forward than reverse by design.

well i found my problem, on driver side the rht shoe spring and nail came loose, adjuster wheel was behind the shoes which in turn had the shoes pushed out against inside of drum which i won't say what sort of groove it made but shoes seems to be okay i put things back, thank goodness i had left one of the old nails in the bucket i had for cleaning parts, and reset the load on bearing, i actually had gotten it to tight and the seal showed it, so far no leaks and i have put at least 50-70miles on it, now on the pass side going into a rht hand curve i hear what sounds like a scrubbing sound which i don't hear going straight, so im going to check the bearing again on it tomorrow, just pull wheel and pull axle out which is no biggy for me, i seem to have great luck with seals and no leaks at least so far anyways. If anyone might have a idea what might be the prob. let me know, i have the best brakes now, it will stop with no problem and if i had the shoes adjusted to much i would have hot drums which i don't nor smell anything getting hot. Im going to use the mityvac again tomorrow and do another bleed just for good measure.
