I have a 93 W350 that I rescued from a fertilizer company that worked hard most of it 150,000 miles. It was maintained quite well, new injector pump not long ago, new radiator, new rear end. I put on a new cab, rebuilt the transmission, built a nice new flat bed for it and am using it around the farm. I am comparing it to a 91 that I bought new and put a Banks kit on it so long ago, I can't remember what it ran like when it was stock. The 93 runs quite rough at idle, (vibrates the truck), spools up quite slowly (Expected) and does not seem to reach the RPMs the old 91 does. My neighbor has a stock 92 auto that seems to run stronger also. Would lazy injectors make the vibration and no rev? What is the deal with the governor spring? I am not looking to build a race truck but I would like to get a little more out of it. It is a good looking truck now, I just want to make it run a little stronger. Where do I start?

Please fill in your signature with the truck information, I'm sure the guys will ask you that first!

Do you have a history of the truck?, with that many miles I would look into a set of injectors as my first upgrade especially if it still has the stock ones. If your going for more upgrades I would also look into an exhaust system and make sure the intake breathes well and then maybe add a 16cm exhaust housing on the turbo. I would also check the pump timing and you can always turn it up a little or a lot depending on how many more horses you want;)

I'm sure the others will chime in soon too... .

I second the notion on injectors. With the lifestyle it led, it may have done some idling, which is hard on fuel systems all around. The 93 wont rev as hig or pull as hard as a non IC truck.

CHeck lift pump pressure. If it is shot, it can make the truck so it wont get out of its own way.

ALso check timing. I wouldnt go more than about 1. 5-1. 6mm, but it could be as low as 1. 0mm, esp if the person reinstalling the pump just slapped it on there.

One thing not mentioned was adjusting the valves. That will make a big difference.

Thanks guys, I'll look into first getting my signature straightened out and then for a set of injectors. I have a 4 inch exhaust on it now and stock but clean intake, I did adjust the valves but it is just lazy. I guess I will get a set of injectors. I'm not familiar with pump timing, I have put them on in the locked stock position before but never messed with timing except on a gas job. I will have to look into it. Thanks for the replies.
