OK I know I've read it on here somewhere, but my rear brake drum is leaking 90 wt. It's coming from between the outer face of the brake drum and the hub flange. Not from the axle flange. One would think that if the axle seal was leaking, that the inside of the drum would be wet and my shoes would be coated with oil. They ain't... ... . Gonna rip into it this evening. Any help or insite would be greatly appreciated.

There is a tin shield around the hub to direct any oil that gets past the seal to the outside. Check to be sure your axle vent isn't clogged. Check the cap on the end of the vent hose then remove the hose and probe the tube that goes into the housing itself. For some reason I get a bunch of muddy looking gunk out of mine about once a year or so. I use an appropriately sized drill bit spun in by hand to clean the axle vent tube.

Thankyou you nailed it. The inner seal was installed over a fubar axle housing. Apparently the guy that did my brake job missed that detail. Should have done it myself.

I've got a D250 and the axle flange is slightly smaller than the FAQs show. What I did was to set the seal to a slightly different depth. This put it on a new section of the axle that had no wear on it. That coupled with removing and cleaning the vent then re-installing it solved my problem. I could not find a speedy sleeve that was a good match. I can get the smaller seal P/N for you tommorow if you need it - just let me know.
