Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 94 2500 cummins no speedometer

my dad bought a 94 dodge with the cummins it is a 5 spd we had to put a new transfer case in it and the speedometer doesn't work we tried a new speed sending unit in the tail shaft. still no speedo any ideas?

A temp fix is to use a gps to provide speed while you find a more permanent fix. I have a magellan hand held that tracked well with my speedometer. Just a thought.

If your tach doesn't work also it's probably the engine speed sensor in front by the crank pulley.

ok i almost feel to stupid to tell you what was wrong but it may help some one else in the future

the sensor can be turned in 90 degree increments and locked down with the metal holder i had it turned 1/4 of a turn out so the gears wouldn't mesh turned it 1/4 of a turn and wala

the diesel shop went all over it today as it has set for 4 years set valves adjusted timing etc they are going to kill the dowel pin for him thursday and crank the pump alsoOo.

now to get my kdp killed
