If you read the fifthgearrepair.com, it is only for a four wheel drive trans, something to due with how they keep the gear in place can only be used on a 4x4 and it won't work on a two wheel drive. Also, there was a comment on using royal purple causing a fifth gear failure, I call bs on this one. I still have my factory original unmolested trans and all I have used for the last 10 years is royal purple. The trans has only been out once at 180,000 to change the clutch because the pressure plate failed, still had lots of lining left. I have 220,000 miles and a 11,000 fifth wheel. What causes the failure is the vibrations caused by lugging the engine in fifth gear under a load, basically it's how you drive it that causes a premature failure. If mine fails now, I would say I got my 18 1/2 years worth out of it.
