Cummins in my f600?

OK Guys could you ever have a better rig for a

I need to get my front drive shaft done so I can get my 4x4 working again.

I am wondering what everyone did to get there 4x4 working again?

From what the drive shaft builders are telling me is that I have to get a whole new one. They can't lengthen the old one by 3" to make it true. Also I would have to get a 2" round and it is going to be tight under there.....

Like I said I am just wondering what you did to get yours working again.

Thanks

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. If you need to lengthen a driveshaft, you will have to cut the ends off and weld in a longer piece of tubing. There are other ways to fix it, but they're sort of butch and you probably won't find a driveshaft shop willing to perform that sort of repair. If you're looking for a cheaper way out, try finding a junkyard driveshaft that's longer than what you need with the same OD and use it for a donor in order to save on material costs. If you're really good, you might even be able to reuse one end in order to save on labor.

Well I called another place and they said about the same thing. The chevy drive shaft is just messed up and it is because it is a 3 piece shaft. They used od sizes and just a pain to do they said. So I am not sure what I am going to do..... #@$%! pita

Start with a new shaft. Find a junkyard shaft with the correct size Ujoints (or a size that will allow the use of conversion Ujoints) and either cut it down or re-tube it to make it fit. In the past I've used both High Angle Driveline and Tom Wood's Driveshafts to make some custom shafts and they both did top notch work for a fair (not cheap, but fair) price.

thanks for the info.

Did you ever see any that was big and went down in size? something like the chevy ds? If I go with any other one it has to be pretty small so it does not hit my transmission.
