My brother-inlaw just bought a FL70. I know absolutely nothing about them. He said it had the cummins 5. 9 in it. He is looking for a bit more power to pull his backhoe. I have a stock 180 hp 98 fuel plate, a TST #6, A plate I have no clue what profile is on it and also have a TST #10 that is currently in my truck. What plate should I chuck in his truck? Not going to get to wild... ... ...

What HP and TQ ratings were on a 95 fl 70?

Thanks.

I have a '93 FL70 with the Cummins 5. 9l in it. Happens to be 190HP stock. I've been thinking about doing the same plate / injector swap to get some more power. I think 12V 215hp injectors and/or a #10 plate set conservatively would work. The wastegate setting on the turbo may have to be blocked though to get enough air to burn the extra fuel. I'm a little worried to put more power to the clutch also, since it can be loaded to 25,000 lbs once in a while. Let me know how it turns out.

Thanks,

I will toss one of the plates in and see what happens. I don't think he has a pyro... ... ... not sure about boost gauge either. Will have to set conservatly if no on either one.

Gauges are must for diagnosis. My motor home is a 190hp version also. Seemed doggy and sounded like turbo spooled slow. After installing gauges I could hit 1300* pre-turbo(let off, maybe more) @ 15-17psi with fuel plate slide slightly forward. Installed boost elbow and no increase in boost. Further poking around found a slight tear in a I/C boot which couldn't really be heard inside. Replaced boot and now see 25psi and 1200* max pull additional 7K.

More fuel, no pyro could be trouble. Especially with the heavy weights he'll be running.

I'd like to run some more HP but I think my turbo will be a limiting factor. The exhaust outlet is only 2. 5" dia.
