Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 95 Low EGT's

Hello,



I have a 95 5 speed truck with about 200,000 on the clock. It was bone stock when I got it 10,000 miles ago. Since then I have:

Installed Wastech combo gauge

Bumped timming up to 15. 5

Installed #10 plate

4" Straight pipe

Insatlled BHAF

AFC housing full forward

Unhooked waste gate



Normal driving I see max 700*

Running truck empty, hard thru the gears I see max 1000*

Pulling 10,000 punds I can get it to 1150*-1200* Max If I try hard.

max boost is always 30 psi



Truck has real good power. When you step down on it, it will blow out a puff of black smoke, spool up the turbo and will clear up to none, and away you go. .





Do these temp sound about right for what I have done? I would have thought it would be running hotter. I would have thought that egt's would have gone up more when pulling 10,000 lb trailer.



Who eles has this setup and what is your temps.



I am happy with the way the truck runs, I just want to make sure nothing is going to melt down

ware is your pyro probe pre or post turbo? if its pre your fine. if its post add about 250* aprox. your timing is, I would say, the reason for the cool running I really need to bump mine I have my own tool and still haven't done it yet. gotta keep it running first.

the 95 auto is a 160hp p-pump. I had the same results until I added the GS3K, after which all the power was up top and so was the EGT's. Seems like the stock torque convertor is awful too, it just spins in there at lower rpm's.

Well he has a 5 speed so it's a 175 pump, same as mine. And yes the timing is the biggest reason the EGT's are good. Those EGT's you mention are perfect, 1200 is max you want to be towing sustained.

My truck bone stock I couldn't get EGT's above 900, these trucks are sooooo detuned from the factory!!!

But as kawi600 mentioned, with a 3kGSK the EGT's do sore a lot higher atleast 100 degrees if not more because you are in it a lot longer.



Try putting your plate full forward once.
