UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!

Timing was set to 15. 5 per Piers. Read above for results of that. The new overflow went in and now it runs as smooth as can be up to 3100 for high idle, and under light loads. It pulls strong up to 2750 or so under heavy load pulling on up to 2900 or so and dad is as happy as can be, it runs the way he wants it to now. I tried talking him into trying to get 3000-3100 out of it, but he sees no need. We will see what happens when the fiver comes out again.

The timing solved several problems, first of which is starting at high altitude. Dad often starts at 10,800 feet, and temps of 20*above to -20* after sitting all day, before the timing change it would need to idle for up to 10 minutes before it would come off idle without missing and sputtering. Now it will go right to whatever RPM you want. The timing also helped RPM and overall power.

The overflow valve also helped power at high RPM, and eliminated the white/grey smoke and missing.

All in all it was very successful.

Thanks a million guys!!!!!

Miles on the 95 are in the 170K ballpark. Very few cases of overflow valves replaced on 24V trucks, it seems that the steady pressure of the electric lift pump on the 24V is a lot easier on the overflow than the constant pulsing of the mechanical pump on the 12V.

You could put one on and see, but it is a very rare case that it is needed on a 24V as far as I know.
