Thanks for all the replys about the recommended oil for my truck. I have a few more questions for you guys... . I have always been a fan and user of wix filters, is their diesel oil filter as good as their standard filters and is it comparable to the fleetguard that so many of you use??

Also what is the recommended oil change interval? The way I see it is oil is cheap compared to an engine rebuild. I have a 1995 ram 5 speed 4x4 standard cab with 4:10 gears and 189000 miles. I just purchased it and I want to make sure it last as long as it should. THANKS AGAIN!!

I have used Wix, Baldwin and Fleetguard (LF 3894 and LF3552). I have noticed that the Fleetguards seem to do the best job. The oil looks a little clearer on the dipstick with them as apposed to the others for the same given miles. I also use Rotella T dino oil.

I used Wix over over 100k on both my trucks mainly because they're good filters and were easier to get than Fleetguard. Now that my situation has changed Fleetguards are just as easy to get and not that much more money so I use them.

I feel I can confidently say that my engines would probably live the same amount of miles with either brand.

I bought Fleetguard L3552 for my Mule I liked how they kept the oil clean.

My Mechanic uses Wix filters they do a good job but not as good as the Fleetguard L3552. How Wix compares to Fleetguards regular filter I do not know.
