This is my first post so be ease. I have a 95 auto 4x4 club cab 2500 ,130k on it. I bought it new and have sence added guages [boost, pyro, trans temp] dd trans pan, 4 inch exhaust K&N air filter and a boost master for the turbo. This has helpt the truck allot. What do i do next. I have read just about every post in the archives and am now thourghly confused. What size plate do i use, GSK, dilevery valves, injectors:mad: It would be nice to have the power but i don't want the high EGT or the stumbling i have read about when you add certian plates and GSK. I would like to get as much HP & torque as possible. ATS will go inplace of stock trans when it lets go:D I tow a 5K trailer in the summer on somewhat flat rodes. Please help i need power.
 
Absolutely first thing I would do is the GSK. 3 or 4 -pick your poison, but the 4k will require heavier valve springs.



I'm currently running #4 plate and 215/6 injectors with 3k GSK and AFC spring kit at 16 degrees timing. NOT HOT with plate all the way up. I have 370's in the mail and will do the DV change to 181's or 191's if I find it necessary.



Will probably add 35/40 hybrid with 14cm wastegated housing as well.



Oh, and this WILL waste your transmission. I swapped trannies first thing.

Trust me your transmission will go. Probably make it to the Gulf. Hate to see a Dodge sitting on the side of the road.

All your questions can be answered by Piers.

A cam plate just adds more fuel. Engine run same.

Injectors make power with that added fuel. Engine runs the same. But will have more git up and go and smoke.

In smaller horse diesel you may need delivery valves. Engine run same.

Higher timing helps out a bit. The sweet spot seams to be 15-19. Mileage usually improves with higher timing. Egt's usaually get lower with higher timmed trucks. Engine characteristics will change. Higher you go with timing your low end power will suffer a little. But your mid and upper will really be strong.

A 3 K rpm kit really wakes er up. Engine characteristics will or may change. At low rpm my engine is very sensitive.
 
I have almost the same exact setup as you, except mine is a 3500. Definately do the 3K gsk. I did the # 6 plate first, and it worked great until I installed the 3K GSK. After that I changed to a 10 plate and that is a better combo.



As for the fear of the stumble, don't let that stop you. I found the install to be pretty easy. I took my time and measured stud protrusion before disassembly about 10 different times. Same w installing the new springs. I did not have any problem with stumble.



Results are great power through a much wider range of RPM's.



You can knock a transmission out of a stock truck if you try hard enough. You can also extend the life of any transmission with decent driving habits. My stock transmission still drives strong. I regularly pull a 8-10k 5th wheel with mine.
 
Thanks for the info. Isn't the #10 plate like 330 hp and allot of torque. I wouldn't't have a problem with EGT? Would the trans last awhile if i take it easy
 
It only produces 330 hp in a 96 on up MANUAL truck.



The #10 in an auto truck is a very good all around plate especially with governor springs. The fuel curve compliments the engine speed very well. You control heat with plate position.



I killed my TC clutch with a #4 plate all the way back. The trany was fine. Problem with adding more engine rpm is the stock trany still shifts at the same rpm. If the engine rpm says you shift at a higher rpm you are simple blowing past the TC capacity & efficiency zone. If the engine & trany rpms are that far off, guess what happens at lockup? Yep carnage.



I will never recommend a GSK in a stock auto.



If want a plate change only, then a #6 is probably your better choice.



Jeff H & I put a 3k GSK in his truck this fall. It cleaned up a stumble from the stock springs, but the sensitive throttle tells me we should have done a 4k set for a little more resistance on the fly weights (pump governor).
