 I've looked at some posts with members boasting over 20psi. with this FASS. Granted,i've got the small FASS,but i was getting more psi with the little carter pump... ... . Now i've got 8lbs @ wot, 9lbs @ idle. what gives?

Burnt Toast,

Get ahold of Rip at Source Automotive, he'll explain what is going on (known problem due to restriction of the oem fuel filter housing) and he has a fix for you on the way to him. The fix is a new, stronger spring. (866) 211-1533. The new spring will put the pressure where you want them.

Hey call Brad at DPP he know of the problem he is having. I have the same unit and talked to him and he has sent me a know stronger spring for free. It is exactly what Hoof Hearted is talking about. The original fuel canister is causing more restriction than he thought it would. He also has a new fuel line to go between the Fuel canister and VP44.

I have 11psi at idle and hard on the throttle can get it down to 7 psi. Brad said the spring will fix it. I expected some problems since the fass unit is so new, i got one of the first ones back in december. So far i love it and after the new spring and see the numbers go up i will love it. Then it will be time for the new ECM.

Hey just saw where you are from, you still live there?

I was out there about 5 years ago, its gorgeous and expensive. We went out there to mountain bike and was there about a week on our 6 week expidition out to CO, UT,

My buddy and i loved it.

It's not a problem at all, not to mention either way, the VP44 is happy, because over 7 or 8psi at WOT, you still have a huge volume of fuel flowing through at any psi. You can stretch the spring on the return line check valve, or, you can just get a different spring. It's not a problem, just an adjustment. And caveman, why would buying an Airdog have any relevance in this issue? Frankly, the jackassery that the Eckstam's have posted on here made me lose a lot of respect for both sides. It is just plain childish. I would buy a RASP, if anything, if I had to choose again.

If you can maintain 8-9 psi under all conditions, I would LEAVE IT ALONE.

This is almost "ideal" fuel pressure, and there's nothing really added to running higher pressures, except it's harder on seals and the VP44 doesn't like the higher pressure.

I just ordered the FASS "2" a couple hours ago from Rip. First off, he is a very courteous, helpful guy.

He is expecting the new springs in today or tomorrow. I hope when I install this, that my injector pump is OK. My lift pump just died this morning. The truck ran perfect last night when I shut it down. This morning, it just cranks and cranks. I tried to cycle the lift pump but nothing, she's dead.

mine is idling at 11, wot at 7 or 8 psi. I will probably upgrade the line from the fuel filter to vp44 and leave the spring alone.

scott, I hope your injection pump is o. k.

The -6 lines flow better than the factory banjos and lines. At wot i gained more pressure than at idle with the line upgrade, so i know it flows better on the top end. But overall, I only gained about 1 psi at wot. Will it make the vp last longer??? I know it won't hurt.

I actually did the lines looking for more psi and better flow on the top end for future bombs. For anyone staying relatively stock, I don't think the upgrades lines are needed. The pump does just fine without them. Over 8psi at wot is just fine. I really don't care if it idles at 11 or 15. both numbers are perfectly fine and the wot number is the one to worry about.

I agree 8-9 psi. is great for a VP pump. Its different if you have a VE or p7100. Also my buddies FASS on his 24v is at 8-9 psi. I'm sure that's the pressure you'll get from the spring they put in the FASS systems for the 24 valves...

Got my FASS on today, it was one of the units with the new spring in it. 22 psi at idle?!?!?!?!?!? :--)

More importantly volume is super nice.

Oh yeah, my crank sensor was bad too.

Now I'm ready for the dyno run this saturday. :D

Got my FASS II on today, also with the new spring. I'm seeing 22 psi at idle as well. I was going to upgrade the line from the filter housing to the VP44 but I needed to move the banjo bolt with the fitting for the fuel pressure gauge from prefilter to post filter. Once I get an adapter for the fuel pressure fitting, I'll upgrade the line to the VP44. Took longer than I thought, had one heck of a time getting the oem line off of the fuel tank, finally took the rear tire off and was able to get in there. Had one leak after the initial hook up, it was at the 90* fitting I added to the output to the engine. Take took a little while as I had to take the fitting off, small diesel shower, and grind a couple of threads off so that when the fitting was snug it faced the what I needed. Once I got that back together, I bumped it again to bleed it, and then it fired right up. Neighbor with little hands helped with getting the fitting off the tank. Many thanks to my neighbor. Thanks to you guys for the headsup on some of the little things. TDR rocks.

stock filter???

ok guys, just put the 95gph FASS on this weekend too. so far (5 miles) it is great... and really quiet (compared to my old PE 4200 that died) anyhow, i did not plumb thru the OEM filter canister, the instructions said to plumb the discharge of the FASS to the input of the VP44 with the provided adapter and plumbing. so i did. i thought the idea of the FASS with its filtering and stuff was to completely bypass the stock filter. i have been reading the posts, and it seems that most of you are still using the stock filter, why???

jkern

We have the pump only model without the filters that Brad came out with in Dec of 04. We need to keep the stock filter housing.

I like having my fuel triple filtered. Plus, I need the fuel heater as well, living in colder climates. It doesn't hurt. I think the FASS would be powerful enough to still provide adequate pressure and gph through a coffee stirrer if it were necessary. Not to mention the system didn't come with enough hose to go all the way to the injection pump on a qc/lwb truck back when I got it.
