Sorry if I'm not the greatest at describing my issue. Don't really know how to put it. But here goes.
I have a 96 and I've done the free mods and then some. (Pulled the fuel plate, max afc travel kit, afc live with 15-30 lb afc spring, delivery valves, etc) had the trans rebuilt. But ever since then my speedometer hasn't worked. No big deal to me. But my major concern is if I put my foot even halfway on the skinny pedal the rpms are governed out through first second and third until it locks up. Then you can watch the rpm climb with speed. Just curious as to what is wrong. Pulling is almost a nightmare. If it's any real weight it feels like it just isn't grabbing a gear. Barely moving it. But again. Once it locks up in overdrive it is a hoss and it moves with a quickness.
I have a 24 valve with a 47re and you can feel the trans stiffen up and really engage in each forward gear. Guess that's the converter lockup. Just no clue on my 12 valve and really wish it'd shift like the 24 valves.
Any help would be appreciated.

I go back to ever rebuilt the trans and see if they put the wrong type of valve body in it. They mite of set it up so you destroy the lower years.
You probably want one that lets you pull in all 4. Unless it will tear the trans up.

Fluid level, throttle valve cable, governor pressure, line pressure. I might suspect line pressure, but that shouldn't explain why the TCC engages so well.

If you have a 47RE, do you also have the electronic controls for it? (IIR, the '96 came stock with the 47RH.)

But then, as Bill said, go back to the rebuilder and find out what they did. They could've made a mistake, or there might've been miscommunication along the way.
