Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 96 3500 4X4 Head Removal

From all the reading I have done it would appear to be a simple task to get the head off. I can't seem to find clearance to remove the push rods from #5 and #6 cylinder. They jam right up against the cowl and I still don't have room to get the head out without them hanging on the block.



I am thinking that I may have to pull the engine. Any good ideas would be appreciated.

under the cowl there are 2 rubber plugs ,on on #5,on #6. pull them out and the pushrods will slip right thru them and out.

How convienient is that! I knew there was a trick to it, but couldn't remember the post I saw on this before.
