Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 96 5-speed turbo ??s

My friend has 96 5-speed CTD 4x4.



There is no apparent mods from looking under the hood, however it has a ton of power and smokes like a train.



I looked too see if there was a tst boost elbow on the turbo and there was no hole drilled for it, like a Hy turbo. The stamp on the turbo said it was a hx 35w. Is that the stock turbo for his truck?



I am guessing whoever did the mods put in a new break off screw and repainted.



more than likely a Dr. Performance kit since his shop is only 11/2 hours away.

The stock turbo is the HX35W. If there is a boost elbow, it's over on the top of the AFC housing. Trace the line from the wastegate, over across the top of the motor, to the top of the pump.
